Statement
Through performance, video and installation, David Fagan creates works which focus on the experience of time, presence and geographic remoteness. His work is often ephemeral in nature, temporarily employing the use of consumer electronic devices such as televisions to play host recorded and live broadcast media.
Intimate experiences of passed moments and remote places are posited. Often however these attempts fall short of the experience they propose, with the sensorial lack serving to emphasise rather than diminish a geographic, personal and horological gulf.
Devices used are pared back, close to their intended function, attesting their original use value. Post exhibition the role as art object is relinquished and devices regain their prior utility, their own attempt at connection over geographic distance.
